Informing wearable tech for women

Many technology companies were born from an engineering-driven culture resulting in products first, experiences later. Our client was no exception. Knowing that women have a set of needs that are largely un-addressed, they asked us, "How do we create a product that women will love?"

As a woman working in tech, I've seen first-hand how women's signals get misconstrued. Understanding how to effectively draw out and interpret deep needs helps us propose design solutions that women need and love.

Broad themes

Immersive approach.

We interviewed and shadowed 12 busy, tech-savvy women in two major cities for two days each to give us a really well-rounded and robust wealth of knowledge. Additionally, we conducted two informal chat sessions.

Connecting to her values.

By focusing in on what is meaningful to her, we found the areas rich in opportunity were the ones that allowed her to be her best self and connect to the people she loved.

Tech to support the moment.

As our culture moves from work-life balance to work-life blend, many women are feeling the strain of being constantly connected. She wants to be present for those she cares about.
